SUZUKI PIZZA PARTY
PLAY-IN & PARENT PANEL
Join
Amati teachers for a Suzuki Play-In and Parent Panel. Any students in Suzuki books I-IV, along with
their parents, are encouraged to attend this exciting group “Play-In” led by
Rebecca Rittich & Zuzana Uskovitsova. Students will participate in a fun
class with other students of all levels. This is an opportunity to learn a new
game or tune! This is also a good opportunity for parents as they will meet to
share & discuss new ways to encourage and motivate their children in their
practices. The fun begins at 5:00pm on
Sunday, February 22nd for 60 minutes. We will finish the event with a Pizza Party
for the kids! Teachers will
be giving out registration forms at group and private lessons in the next
weeks. Please be sure to register by February 20th so we know who to
expect. There is a $5 participation fee for students to cover the cost of
pizza, juice & dessert!
SPRING
BREAK
Just
a reminder – the School and Office will be CLOSED from March 15th –
22nd inclusive for Spring Break.
Please check your calendar – if you have any questions, please call the
office or speak with your teacher. There are no scheduled lessons during spring
break. If you are owed a lesson, make up lessons should be arranged directly
with your teacher. Some teachers may be
teaching during the break
- please check with your individual instructors for details on
this. Please see studio policy for make
up lesson policy.
INFORMAL
RECITALS
Our
next Informal Recital Day is February 22nd in the Amati
Gallery. The Piano Recital will take place
at 2:00pm with the Strings recital to follow at 3:15pm. Students are encouraged
to perform or attend as audience. Sign
up sheets are located on the library door. Please be sure to list the piece you
will be performing. This will help the accompanist know what music they need to
have available. Students are reminded
that if they sign up for an informal recital, they must attend. Please check
your calendars BEFORE signing up. If you require a rehearsal for the informal
recital (students at RCM 4 level and higher), please sign up with either Alex
or Diana on their sign-up sheets on the library window at least one week prior
to the recital date. You will be billed for all rehearsal times.
KIWANIS MUSIC FESTIVAL APRIL 6TH
– 27TH
Students
who have registered for Kiwanis Festival should be starting to prepare for
rehearsals with their accompanist. Piano rehearsal times are posted on the
library window. Please check with your
teacher as to how much rehearsal time you will need. Rehearsals will be billed to you at $60 per
hour and festival performances at $12/$15/$18 per performance, depending on
level and length of piece/class. All accompanists fees
are due on receipt of invoice, these can be left with your teacher(s). Kiwanis Music Festival programs will be
available for purchase at the beginning of April. Students who would like to
observe Kiwanis classes are encouraged to purchase a program and attend as
audience. To avoid losing your program,
please put your family name and phone number on it. Amati is not responsible
for programs left at the studio without identification.
RCM EXAMINATIONS
If
you are planning on taking May/June RCM exams, please remember that the registration deadline for exams is March
1st. Check with you
teacher to confirm whether you should register for this session. Examination
goals are a team effort. Students who register for violin/viola exams will also
work with an accompanist in preparing repertoire. Please discuss with your
teacher how much time you might need to rehearse with the piano. Rehearsal sign
up sheets are posted on the library door in March. Don’t forget to sign up
early to avoid last minute disappointment. It’s better to be prepared ahead of
time – not trying to squeeze in last minute rehearsals!
Examination Registration can be done online at www.rcmexaminations.org enter
the studio teacher number 50123. RCM Theory exams will take place May 8th
& 9th. Practical examinations will take place June 8th-27th.
As the accompanist needs to attend violin/viola practical exams, it will be
important NOT to change your exam date once it has been set. If there is a
problem with scheduling, please contact the AMATI OFFICE not RCM Exams
to discuss the possibilities for changes. Calling RCM may result in your exam
being cancelled all together.
VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES
Amati
offers many volunteer opportunities for students. The upcoming Fiddle, Intermediate and Junior
Concerts are all opportunities to lend a helping hand. Please contact the director by email at amatistringstudio@shaw.ca if you are
able to assist at any of these events (check your calendar for concert
schedules). High School Students –
volunteer hours apply to school credits. Letters of reference
available on request.
