Amy Florence Paster

BMus., ARCT (Teacher), ARCT (Performer), RMT, RCM Examiner, Director of Amati String Studio. After having taught for Capilano College, BC Conservatory of Music, Vancouver Community College, and as a strings coach for the Vancouver School Board String Program, Amy began teaching violin, viola, fiddle, chamber music and music theory in her own studio 24 years ago. Amy's students have won numerous honors including seven RCM Silver Medals as well as many trophies and scholarships in local and provincial music festivals. Amy is the founder and director of the Sizzlers Fiddle Group and the Amati String Chamber Orchestra as well as Amati String Studio/Amati Academy of Music in Vancouver BC (established in 2000). The Sizzlers Fiddle Group performs at various community, charity and fund raising events throughout the year. Under her direction, the Sizzlers Fiddle Group has toured across Canada performing in Victoria, Vancouver Island, Mainland BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, PEI, Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island as well as Cape Breton. They have also recorded 2 professional CDs. Past President of the Vancouver Branch of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association and an active String Examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ms. Paster strives to promote Canadian String Music and fiddle music for beginner and intermediate players. Specializing in Klezmer Music, Amy’s fiddle groups play Eastern European, Celtic & other music from around the world.

Victoria Sizzlers Fiddle Camp ($250)

9:00am to 1:00pm Monday to Friday

Join experienced instructor Amy Paster and members of the Senior Sizzlers Fiddle Group for a fun & exciting week of fiddle & movement. Explore new music from Eastern Europe, Ireland, North America & around the world! Make new friends and work on movement & formation choreography while playing. At the end of the week, join this group for some busking in Victoria. Class size is limited to 16 violin/viola students between the ages of 6 and 16. Minimum playing level: 2 years study, Suzuki 2, RCM 2, VCM 2 or by permission (audition).

Vancouver Sizzlers Fiddle Camp ($250)

Course includes all Vancouver busking activities in the weekend to follow the camp! Class size is limited to 16 violin/viola students between the ages of 6 and 14. Minimum playing level: 2 years, Suzuki 2/RCM 2 or by audition/invitation. Interested students should apply before the deadline as this course is sure to be filled!

BUSKING WEEKEND!

Join Sizzlers Fiddle Camp Students from Vancouver for a fun weekend of busking & performing at Granville Island & Kitsilano locations. Students will enjoy a fun weekend playing lots of great fiddle tunes. This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their Fiddle Camp Experience. August 27 & 28.

Victoria Sizzlers Fiddle Camp students will perform on the streets of Victoria for the thousands of tourists that visit the city this summer! Enjoy this amazing opportunity the weekend following our camp. This is an excellent chance to showcase your Fiddle Camp Experience. July 15-17

Details of busking will be discussed during the camp & a busking schedule will be handed out at the beginning of the camp week.
