Amati Mandate
The ideology behind Amati String Studio is based on the premise that learning a musical instrument can be fun! The positive musical community created by ongoing group classes, chamber music, orchestras, fiddle ensembles and performances lead to students and families getting more than simply music lessons from the Amati experience. Amati’s combined approach, including both private and group instruction, uses both Suzuki and traditional methods and materials to teach basic skills. Amati prepares students with excellent practice and study skills for life. Amati String Studio is dedicated to providing quality string music education in a friendly constructive environment.
What Makes Amati Unique
Amati String Studio offers a unique range of opportunities to suit each student at all levels and stages of study. Courses can be tailored to benefit each individual student’s needs.
Music Community – Amati String Studio has a strong community of students and teachers. The office staff are teachers themselves, so there is a musical understanding in all facets of business at Amati String Studio. Amati faculty and staff work as a team to answer any questions you might have about your musical pursuits.
Group classes – students enrolled in private lessons (violin, viola & guitar) are encouraged to participate in at least one of our many group classes. Group classes reinforce individual lessons and teach valuable ensemble skills. Group classes include technique, repertoire, orchestral excerpts, chamber ensembles, orchestra and fiddle. Group classes help to ensure that students get acquainted with many of the faculty and other students who share a love of music!
Performance opportunities – Informal recitals are held once a month at the Amati Gallery, and more formal winter and spring recitals are held at local concert halls and nearby churches. Students are encouraged to participate in these recitals as well as city music festivals, Amati Festival Workshops, masterclasses, and various other arranged workshops for violin, viola, piano and guitar.
Workshops and Master classes – Throughout the year, Amati arranges several workshops and master classes for students and parents. Parent workshops encourage both musical understanding and at home practice skills. Throughout the year, there are special workshops for students of viola, guitar and piano. Master classes by guest teachers provide students with performance opportunities where they can receive additional coaching and support.
Teachers at Amati – Teachers at Amati hold professional memberships including BC Registered Music Teacher’s Association, American String Teacher’s Association, and Suzuki Association of the Americas. Amati teachers bring with them many years of experience as well as a desire for new teaching skills and methods. All Amati teachers are encouraged to keep up to date with professional development. Teachers are part of a dedicated faculty – committed to Amati and to the success of its students.
